Bodyweight Exercises Can Help You
Gain Strength And Lose Belly Fat

It’s not talked about often, but body weight exercises are a great alternative to weight lifting.
What’s more, bodyweight exercises can help you gain strength and lose overall body fat (especially your
midsection!).
Another benefit of doing bodyweight exercises is that they give you functional strength. This means
once-difficult tasks like carrying groceries up a flight of stairs, lifting heavy boxes, or carrying your newborn child suddenly become much
easier.
So, what kinds of bodyweight exercises are the best in terms of building strength, muscle tone, and losing
overall and belly fat?
1. Pushups-- Pushups are a great way to strengthen your upper body. They target your
shoulders, triceps and pectoral (chest) muscles. These can be done every day and you should try and get in 20-50 reps. If you can do more,
great. Also, if you have a hard time doing just one pushup, you can try the modified version, by placing your knees on the floor while still
lifting your heels towards your backside.

2. Pull ups -- These are tough, but incredibly effective. Pull ups work your back,
shoulders, and biceps. Ideally, you should be able to do ten in a row without stopping. Of course, if you can’t do this yet, do however many you
can, every day. Eventually, you’ll get to the point where you can do at least ten.
3. Ab exercises (typically done as crunches and sit ups) – Contrary to popular belief, ab
exercises only help strengthen and build your abs. They don’t make your stomach fat go away. And some exercises are far superior than others. One
of the best ab exercises you can do without any resistance are bicycles. To do them, lay on your back. Then place your hands behind your head.
Now lift both of your legs and start pedaling, as if on a bicycle. As your left knee comes in towards your chest and your right leg straightens
out, crunch and bring your right elbow towards it. Then, as the right knee comes towards your chest and the left leg straightens out, crunch and
bring your left elbow towards it.
4. Squats – Squats are an excellent muscle-building exercise and can accelerate your fat
loss efforts (especially if you want to lose that belly fat.) They work out your glutes, hamstrings, and quadriceps. Since squats involve many
muscle-groups all at one time, they trigger the release of growth hormone and testosterone – both critical to building muscle and losing overall
body fat. Shoot for 20-50 with no weight and without stopping.
5. Lunges – Lunges are another excellent bodyweight exercise. They work out your lower body
and help you burn more overall calories since they are tough to do.
These are five basic bodyweight exercises anyone can perform. Do them daily, and you’ll see great results.
And believe it or not, mastering these bodyweight exercises will ultimately increase how much weight you can lift in the gym.
And the nice thing about these types of exercises is that they can be done anywhere – outside, in a hotel
room, at home, or even at the beach. So if you’re ever anywhere where you don’t have access to the gym, you should do a routine based on
bodyweight exercises so you can avoid missing a day of training.
To a healthier, happier, you!
