7 Healthy Eating Tips
For Getting Head-Turning Six Pack Abs
Healthy eating doesn’t have to be difficult. In fact, once you know a few tips for healthy eating, it all becomes pretty simple.
What’s more, eating healthy plays a critical role when it comes to getting a six pack. It’s what fuels your body and helps your metabolism
burn off all that abdominal fat.
Once you conquer the eating healthy part, you’ll have mastered about 80% of what it takes to be healthy and fit.
With that said, here are seven healthy eating tips to help you get started on the path to getting a six pack others stare at and
envy:
Healthy Eating Tip#1 -- Control your portions.
Too often, people eat way more than they really need to. By overeating, you consume too many calories. Your body then stores the extra
calories as unsightly flab. Instead, eat smaller portions.
One quick way to gauge a portion is with your fist. For example, if you are going to eat a steak, eat only amount equal in size to one of your
fists. The same goes with carbs like rice and pastas.

Also, eat slow. Take the time to really chew your food and enjoy it. And avoid eating to the point of feeling “stuffed” or completely “full”.
Pay attention to your body and stop eating once you feel satisfied.
Healthy Eating Tip #2 – Reduce stress.
It might seem like reducing stress isn’t really an eating tip, but it is. See, a lot of people resort to food for comfort when they feel
stress. This is known as emotional eating.
People who eat emotionally will feel the need to eat when they are feeling angry, sad, depressed, anxious, or fearful.
By learning how to cope with stress, and even reduce it, emotional eating won’t be necessary.
Great ways to reduce stress are through deep breathing, meditation, yoga, tai chi, etc. Also, when you feel like you want to eat junk food, or
“comfort” food, take an internal inventory. Are you eating because you are truly hungry, or because of the emotion you are feeling? If it’s
because you’re seeking comfort, take 5 deep breaths. Then, have a big glass of water. See how you feel. Chances are the “craving” will have gone
away.
If it hasn’t, do something more involved. For example, let’s say you’re craving chocolate ice cream. And it’s because you’re feeling anxious.
Instead of eating the ice cream, go to the gym. Or go for a walk around the neighborhood. Do anything to distract yourself from the craving. Nine
times out of ten, you’ll return feeling better than before and the craving will have disappeared.
Healthy Eating Tip #3 – Eat lean protein.
Protein is crucial to building muscle and burning fat. You’ll want to stick with lean sources like tuna, chicken breast, turkey, tofu,
etc.
Avoid fatty meats like bacon, ham, sausages, and hot dogs. These are not healthy, even when on “low-carb” diets. When you’re eating out, never
order anything fried. Always get it grilled, broiled, poached or baked when possible.
Healthy Eating Tip #4 -- Eat plenty of vegetables and fruits.
Veggies and fruits are rich in nutrients and minerals that keep your body healthy. Plus, many vegetables are a great source of both fiber and
antioxidants. Great veggies to eat include broccoli, spinach, squash, and zucchini. Good fruits to eat are apples, grapes, kiwis, and
oranges.
If you’re going out to eat, substitute sides like French fries with mixed veggies.
Healthy Eating Tip #5 -- Eat complex carbs.
This means staying away from refined carbs like white bread. Good choices are whole wheat bread, brown rice, and oatmeal.
Healthy Eating Tip #6 -- Eat good fats.
Contrary to popular belief, fat is good for your body. In fact, fat is essential. But when I say fat, I am referring to good fats like Omega
3s and 6s. Good sources are flax seed oil and olive oil. Also nuts like walnuts and almonds are great sources of fat.
Healthy Eating Tip #7 -- Drink plenty of water.
Avoid drinking juices, sodas, etc. Instead, drink only purified water or unsweetened tea. If you’d like to make something sweet, use Stevia,
an all-natural sweetener.
So there you have it. Seven healthy eating tips that will steer you clear of “beer gut” city and help you get that six pack.
Oh and one more thing—
Make sure you “cheat” at least once a week. Doing this will help keep cravings at bay and motivate you to continue eating healthy.
To a happier, healthier you!
