High Energy Foods To Beat Fatigue
Most people turn to energy drinks like Red Bull when they want a quick ‘pick me up.’
The problem is that with the quick energy boost comes a big crash afterwards.
Sticking with natural, high energy foods and leading a healthy lifestyle is a much more effective, healthy, and long-lasting option for having
boundless energy.
What’s more, if you suffer from constant fatigue, changing your diet can also dramatically affect your energy levels.
To feel constant energy throughout the day, you need to avoid the typical “high energy” foods most people rely on. These include sodas, candy
bars, sugary cereals, milk chocolate, energy drinks, and juices.
Here’s why:
The food you eat is broken down by your body into sugar.
This is sugar is known as glucose. Glucose is your body’s ‘fuel.’

Carbs are the easiest macronutrient for your body to convert into glucose. That’s why you’ve heard that carbs are great for energy. But the
problem is that highly-processed and refined carbs—like the ones I mentioned earlier—get broken down too quickly.
They give you a quick shot of energy, but then leave you with low blood sugar levels.
This is what causes that ‘crash’ afterwards.
The key, then, to having lots of energy to get through your day is in stabilizing your blood sugar levels.
Here’s how…
• Eat small meals throughout the day. This guarantees you’ll have stable blood sugar levels. Plus, it’ll help rev up your metabolism,
which in turn helps you burn fat. This also means you’ve got to make sure not to skip a meal. Doing so causes a dip in blood sugar, sapping you
of vital energy.
• Eat protein with every meal. Protein is a high energy food. So, make sure to get 20-40 grams of protein at every meal. Choose only lean
protein like tuna, turkey, or chicken breast.
• Have complex carbs. Complex carbs take longer to break down into blood sugar. This prevents a big spike in blood sugar. One great high
energy food in this department is oatmeal. It is high in soluble fiber. Soluble fiber with a meal slows down the digestive process.
• Eat plenty of salads. Salads are definitely high energy. Foods that can be included in your salad are tuna, grilled chicken, lean cut
of steak, nuts, tomatoes, onions, and any other veggies or fruits. If you go the salad route, make sure to include one of the lean protein
sources I listed above. Eating just lettuce will not satisfy you, or help you in keeping a high energy level.
• Don’t over eat. Eating to the point of ‘stuffing’ yourself is counter-productive to maintaining high energy levels. This is because
overeating causes your body to release serotonin. Serotonin is what makes you drowsy and makes you want to take a nap.
• Get enough iron and B12. Both of these are found in red meat. You can also find them in most multi-vitamins. While not high energy
foods, these two help your body metabolize food into energy.
Another little snack that’s great for energy is cottage cheese. Mix half a cup with a handful of walnuts and apple slices. The combination of
protein, fructose and fiber (both from the apple), and fat gives you the perfect nutrition for optimal energy.
Give these tips a try and you’ll start noticing you’ll have more energy throughout your day. Plus, by sticking with a healthy diet and high
energy foods like the ones I’ve mentioned above, your quest for a flat stomach will be easier than ever!
To a happier, healthier, you!
