Why Quick Weight Loss Diets Don’t Work
If you’ve ever tried losing weight before, then you’ve probably come across dozens of diets promising quick weight loss. But the fact of the
matter is: quick weight loss diets don’t work.
There are a number of reasons for this:
1. They starve you. In order to get you to lose weight quick, these diets have you eating like a rabbit. A grapefruit here, a rice cake
there. Maybe some toast with jam if you’ve been a good boy or girl. Although you may lose weight quick following these unhealthy, dangerous
methods, most of it is water weight, and or muscle. The main thing is that your body composition (how much muscle and fat your body is made up
of) doesn’t change to in a positive way.
2. They’re unrealistic. Most of these quick weight loss diets are so strict, that even someone with the discipline of a trained soldier
would cave in to temptation and veer off the diet. These are called quick weight loss diets for a reason. And it’s because no one can follow them
for any extended period of time. Instead, you should learn to lose weight and keep it off through eating healthy and exercise. After all, staying
lean and fit your whole life is a much more valuable goal than losing 10 lbs in one week.
3. They deprive your body of life giving nutrients. Many quick weight loss diets severely limit the foods you eat (one I came across
tells you to eat only grapefruits!). This in effect, limits the variety of nutrients you can put into your body. As a result, your body is
deprived of the very basic building blocks it needs for day to day functions. You don’t need me to tell you that this is both dangerous and
unhealthy.

So if quick weight loss diets are out of the question, what should you do to lose weight quickly, in a healthy way?
Well, for starters, don’t skip meals. Doing so messes with your blood sugar levels. Also, starving yourself creates a state known as
catabolism. This is when your body starts to break down your muscle in order to feed itself.
Instead, eat 5-6 small meals spaced throughout the day. This keeps your energy levels high and blood sugar levels stable.
Second, learn portion control. Don’t eat till you’re stuffed. Instead, learn to enjoy eating. Chew your food thoroughly. And stop eating when
you feel satisfied.
Also, stay away from processed foods. Eat healthy foods like lean meats, veggies, fruits, nuts, mono-unsaturated oils (think olive oil and
flax seed oil), and complex carbs that are high in soluble fiber like oatmeal.
And here’s another big one if you want to lose weight quickly and safely. Drink only water. Sodas and soft drinks are laden with high fructose
corn syrup. By drinking just one can of soda, you send your blood sugar levels through the roof. This tells your body to dump a bunch of insulin
into your bloodstream.
High levels of insulin tell your body to start storing fat. A big no, no – especially if you’re going to lose weight and belly fat.
To sum up, quick weight loss diets don’t work. Yes, you’ll lose weight quickly in the beginning, but they are dangerous, and unhealthy.
Plus, chances are you’ll gain the weight right back. To learn more about how to lose weight safely and lose that stubborn belly fat, feel free
