“Weight Loss” Vitamins…
Fact or Fiction?
Even though there’s no magic pill for weight loss, vitamins can
play a positive role in helping you with the battle of the
bulge.
Of course, vitamins are no substitute for a sound weight loss
plan that includes healthy eating and exercise.
Think of “weight loss” vitamins as the cherry on the cake of
dieting (bad analogy, I know).
More than helping you lose weight though, supplementing with
vitamins fills in the gaps left behind by inadequate nutrition.
They can help give your body vital nutrients it needs to keep
functioning properly and stay healthy.
Also, always check with your doctor before beginning any kind of
supplementation program. And realize that you should never overdo
taking vitamins. Even too much of a good thing can be harmful to
your health!
To start, you should ensure you’re getting enough of the full
spectrum of B vitamins. These include B2, B3, B5, and B6. They’re
very important in regulating proper thyroid and metabolism
function.

While you can get B vitamins from supplements, it’s best to get
them naturally, from food.
Great sources of B vitamins are leafy green vegetables and green
superfoods, like spirulina and chlorella.
You can also get them from animal sources such as eggs (yolks
are where you’ll find the vitamins), and red meat.
Another great all-around vitamin is good ole vitamin C. It
protects your body’s cells from harmful free radicals and is an
anti-inflammatory.
Plus, it boosts your immune system. Great sources of vitamin C
include strawberries, kiwi fruit, oranges, and tomatoes.
Then there’s the mineral chromium picolinate. There’s been a lot
of fanfare surrounding it. You might’ve heard some of the hyped up
claims that it helps build muscle and lose fat. There isn’t any
solid evidence to back this up.
But what chromium picolinate is good for is suppressing your
appetite!
There’s been a lot of research supporting this. So even though
it won’t magically make you toned and lean, it can certainly help
you when it comes to avoiding hunger pangs.
Another great supplement, which can help you gain more energy is
CoQ10. This is an amazing antioxidant that serves lots of purposes.
It promotes heart health and helps prevent free-radical damage to
your body’s cells. More than that, it provides mitochondrial
support for your cells energy production.
Simply put, CoQ10 packs a healthy punch and will leave you
feeling with more energy throughout the day. This in turn, will get
you motivated to stick with any exercise program you might be
on.
So there you have it. The top four “weight loss” vitamins. And
remember, these vitamins by themselves won’t make you lose weight.
They are meant to complement a sound diet and exercise
strategy.
And one more thing…
All vitamins are not created equal. That’s because many of them
are not easily absorbed into your bloodstream and are excreted as
waste (that’s why many people affectionately call them “bed pan”
bullets.) Always search for the most absorbable forms of these
vitamins.
Ideally, you should eat a balanced diet that includes a variety
of food sources. Doing this ensures you’re getting many of these
nutrients, vitamins and minerals in their most absorbable, natural
form.
And don’t forget, it takes effort to achieve weight loss.
Vitamins are only the cherry on the cake of exercise and diet.
To a happier, healthier, you!
